Workforce, market-rate housing at South Hadley plaza will be driven by market need, owners say

Workforce housing, subsidized units targeted to households making about 80% of the community’s median income, will be part of the 72-unit apartment building proposed Wednesday for the former Big Y site in the Woodlawn Plaza, 501 Newton St. And the plaza owners hope to have Springfield-based Wayfinders housing agency manage the building. The building will be called The Park at Woodlawn, according to drawings shared Wednesday. It will be four stories tall and cover about a three-acre portion of the property.
