Westfield Friendly’s near Massachusetts Turnpike exit expected to close; Pride restarting plans for new station, store
Friendly’s is expected to close its restaurant near the Massachusetts Turnpike exit after its lease expires in November, according to the owner of Pride, the Springfield-based convenience store and gas station chain that owns the property and much of the land around it.Anticipating that the property will be vacant, Pride CEO Robert Bolduc restarted talks with the Westfield Planning Board over the past 10 days. Bolduc has long planned to build a Pride store at the site, which is located on an access road named — for the moment at least — Friendly’s Way.
