Westfield Bank buys Huntington United Bank office that was slated to close, saving only bank in the hilltowns
WESTFIELD — Westfield Bank will buy the former United Bank branch on Route 20 in Huntington that had planned to close early next year.
Westfield Bank will open its own branch in the space, which has a street address of 14 Russell Road. The transaction will be complete in February.
The loss of the office would have been a headache for residents of rural Huntington, who would have had to travel to Westfield, Northampton or Lee to go to a bank branch.
