An Amazon distribution center slated to open on Lower Westfield Road this fall is a sign that the Pioneer Valley has strong appeal for big business, officials said Thursday. “It’s an acknowledgment from a national and international company that Western Massachusetts is a good place to do business,” said Rick Sullivan, president and CEO of the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts.
