Way Finders to tear down rather than renovate old Peter Pan bus terminal
Workers have boarded up the former Peter Pan Bus Springfield Terminal and will soon start removing asbestos and other hazards from the building that saw its last scheduled bus in September 2017. The button-up work is the first step toward demolishing the 26,300-square-foot building that opened April 1, 1969, to make way for a new $8 million to $9 million headquarters for Way Finders, said the housing agency’s CEO Peter Gagliardi. Way Finders abandoned plans to reuse the old bus terminal building as its new headquarters.
