Vacant Strathmore Mill No. 2 up for auction in Russell
The town will sell an abandoned mill at auction with hopes of breathing new life in to a building where the smokestack still bears words “STRATHMORE PAPER” in contrasting black brickwork. It’s a bit of branding still visible for miles up and down the Westfield River Valley 20 years after International Paper closed Strathmore Mill No. 2, a move that cost 170 employees their jobs.
