UMass President Marty Meehan stresses college affordability in State of UMass address

University of Massachusetts President Marty Meehan on Monday pledged to address college affordability through online education, partnerships with businesses and nonprofits and a new fundraising campaign. Meehan said the renewed focus on affordability is vital to keep higher education accessible to all students and let students choose their own career paths. “Affordability, which is central to our mission, is no longer guaranteed by our status as a public university,” Meehan said in his second annual State of the University address at the UMass Club in Boston.
