UMass Amherst tuition costs held at bay by efficiency, spokeswoman says

If the financial projections hold, University of Massachusetts Amherst students will see a $188 tuition-fee increase per semester in fiscal 2019, or a 2.5 percent increase over fiscal 2018 costs. This does not include the $50 increase to the Student Activity Fee, which students approved in December to help support renovations to the Student Union. “Tuition increases are kept at a minimum by an efficiency and effectiveness program throughout the campus,” wrote UMass spokeswoman Mary Dettloff.
