The Egg & I plans Monday reopening at former Friendly’s in South Hadley
The Egg & I, a breakfast and lunch staple in town since 1989, will reopen Monday in its new location at the former Friendly’s at 489 Newton St. (Route 116) after a four-month hiatus. The Egg & I closed its old location on Main Street in South Hadley Falls at the end of August, said owner David Simard. “It’s more centrally located (in the plaza),” he said Wednesday. “We are trying to get back on our feet here. The Egg & I has been an institution in South Hadley for a lot of years.” Simard is only the most recent owner, having bought the restaurant seven years ago.
