Tapping the Power of Health Pathways in Early College High Schools
MBAE is very pleased to partner with MassINC on an upcoming event that might be of interest to you and your members in health care, Tuesday, May 23,2023 8:30am – 10:30am. A sector experiencing an intense workforce crisis. Serious staffing issues, made worse by the pandemic, have hampered employers in nearly every region of the state for years. The Massachusetts Health and Hospitals Association reports that Massachusetts hospitals are 19,000 workers short, including an astoundingly high vacancy rate of 56 percent for licensed practical nurses.
Remedying this situation will require a large and systemic workforce development intervention. One promising approach is building strong and deliberate high school student pathways into health careers. MassINC has done some excellent thinking around how to evolve and strengthen Early College health pathways programs to provide a systemic solution to our increasingly acute health care workforce crisis.
We’d love to invite you and any of your members that might be interested to attend a Tuesday, May 23, 2023 event, Tapping the Power of Health Pathways in Early College High Schools, to hear about the roles of various stakeholders, including business, in building pathways that allow students to explore their interests in clinical professions and puts them on a firmer and faster course through postsecondary studies and into medicine, nursing, and allied health careers.
