STCC hosts Massachusetts Girls in Trades Conference and Career Fair (photos)
The Massachusetts Girls in Trades Conference and Career Fair was held Friday at the Springfield Technical Community College Scibelli Hall gym. Girls enrolled in area high school vocational and technical programs, along with guidance counselors and teachers, attended the event, which kicked off with a welcome by STCC President John Cook and Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno. Following the speaking program the student were divided into two groups, allowing them to network and ask questions with trade union representatives to help them plan a career in the skilled trades. Representatives were also present from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, career and technical schools and student organizations.
