Springfield YMCA plans child care, fitness center at Tower Square; will sell Chestnut Street building
The YMCA of Greater Springfield is moving child care and fitness programs from its building at 265 Chestnut St. to Tower Square. The move is designed to reinvigorate both the Y and the 180,000-square-foot downtown mall that’s been devoid of much activity in recent decades. “We are confident that we are going to see growth in our membership,” said Dexter Johnson, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Springfield.
