In 1923, Mansuit L. Schmitt started a business in Springfield, one which was rooted in fairness, honesty, quality and commitment to its workers. Ninety-five years later, M.L. Schmitt Inc., Electrical Contractors & Engineers, located at 371 Taylor St., stays true to its founder’s operating principles. “Slow and steady wins the race,” says Thomas A. Schmitt, today’s president of M.L. Schmitt and grandson of the founder. “We are five years away from our 100th anniversary. Not many businesses like ours can say they’ve been around that long. The future is still bright!”
