Residents have a more favorable opinion of the city’s quality of life, economic outlook and public safety than they did eight years ago, according to new findings from the Western New England University Polling Institute. And the optimism for Springfield’s economy was highest among residents who listed themselves as supporters of the MGM Springfield casino project, said Tim Vercellotti, director of the polling institute and a professor of political science at Western New England University.
