State Sen. Eric Lesser, D-Longmeadow, is calling on the candidates for U.S. Senate to hold a debate in Springfield focused on east-west rail. Lesser wrote in a letter to all four candidates in the Democratic primary that he is inviting them to a debate on the topic of high-speed rail between Boston and Pittsfield. His letter says high-speed rail “has the potential to transform our Commonwealth’s economy and create tens of thousands of new jobs.”
