Rail Yard tavern planned at former Debbie Wong in West Springfield

The owners of the site of the former Debbie Wong Restaurant at 874 Memorial Ave. plan to transform it into a tavern called The Rail Yard. “It’s just sentimental for a lot of reasons. It’s part of West Springfield’s History,” said owner Lori Rindels, a West Springfield native, whose mother grew up nearby on Lowell Street. “We’re just really excited.” The property, which totals seven-tenths of an acre, abuts the massive CSX train yard. She hopes to have The Rail Yard open either just prior to or just following the nearby Big E’s annual run this fall, adding construction will start soon.
