PVTA gets $2.4M from feds for North End Springfield project (photos, video)

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $2.4 million to renovate 110-year-old PVTA maintenance facility in the North End into a modern place to store and repair its paratransit fleet. Meanwhile PVTA — otherwise known as the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority — will move its bus maintenance and operations to a new $55 million, 225,000-square-foot, state and federally funded depot on Cottage Street in March, said Administrator Sandra E. Sheehan.
