Put your money where your heart is’: Groups mount promotional push for Springfield restaurants

Local organizations are urging the public to rally in support of Springfield restaurants by purchasing meals over the next 10 days. The citywide promotion, named Springfield’s Restaurant Rally, starts Friday and continues through Dec. 13. It’s intended to help the businesses as they cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

The event is presented by the Springfield Restaurant Week Committee and the Springfield Business Improvement District.

“This is a call to our community. To all local lovers, diners, and friends, it’s time to put your money where your heart is and rally behind your favorite,” the organizers said in a news release. “This holiday season, simply order out, grab curbside pick-up, dine in early or delivery and help save the restaurants that make our city complete.”

The pandemic prompted postponement of Springfield’s Restaurant Week in April.

Under the Restaurant Rally event, all restaurants in the city are considered a participant, and unlike Restaurant Week, there are no set menus, organizers said.

“Neighborhood restaurants are the lifeblood of our community and Covid-19 has taken its toll on them,” the news release said. “Without your help, our favorite places may no longer be. It’s time to rally and support our restaurants.”
