Owners of Eastfield Mall in Springfield hire brokers to pursue redevelopment

Cushman and Wakefield said in a news release that the 87-acre Eastfield Mall site is ideal for redevelopment into a mixed-use with retail, housing and offices in a “main street” setting. The result would most likely look like trendy “lifestyle” centers where buildings are arranged on streets in an open-air plaza instead of an enclosed mall. That process, which can leave existing structures like the movie theater standing, is called de-malling.
