Owner of Skyview Downtown apartments in Springfield defends renovation work in response to union protest

The company that recently launched a $50 million renovation of the Skyview Downtown apartments is defending the work following a protest earlier this week by local building trades unions. Related Companies, of New York City, which owns the property, said through a Springfield lawyer, Melinda M. Phelps, that the first phase of work is being done primarily by Springfield-area subcontractors, and primarily by union labor.
