New owners of Northampton’s 1930s train car diner aiming to open new business by April

The 1930s-era train car at 8 Strong Ave., formerly Kathy’s Diner, is in the final stages of being transformed into Familiars Coffee & Tea, as the owners hope to be serving the public by early Spring. The new restaurant aims to be a specialty coffee and tea shop that will also serve simple, made-to-order breakfast and lunch sandwiches, according to the new owners.  The two men behind the new business, Isaac Weiner, 29, and Dan McColgan, 27, say they hope to open their doors by mid-April. Weiner and McColgan approached property owner Gary Perman in March of 2017 about potentially opening a new business at the closed restaurant.
