Springfield has seen some big projects in Kevin Kennedy’s time as chief development officer — Union Station, the MGM casino, CRRC and its rail car factory on Page Boulevard. The city has absorbed some heavy blows as well: the 2011 tornado and the 2012 gas explosion most prominent among them.
