As reported by the Springfield Republican, the graduation rate within the Springfield Public Schools has grown by over 20 percentage points since 2012. This dramatic and sustained increase represents a phenomenal turnaround and an important win for our community. For students who previously might not have completed school, their graduation represents expanded opportunity for employment, earnings, higher learning and overall quality of life. For our community as a whole, the benefits are also enormous. Graduation rates correlate directly to positive economic development, and help us shrink the skills gap between available jobs and those who seek them. These successes also aid our efforts to attract new families and businesses to relocate here in Springfield. In short, when our kids do better, we all do better.
