Grand opening of BarKaya sushi and ramen restaurant in downtown Springfield

BarKaya, a brand new Japanese sushi and ramen restaurant in town has officially opened its door to the public. A grand opening and a ribbon cutting ceremony were held at 278 Worthington Street location Tuesday afternoon. Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno and city councilor Jesse Lederman attended the event to congratulate owner Chris McKiernan and the staff. McKiernan said the restaurant will bring something to Springfield that no one else is doing: an “omakase” menu, meaning “leave it up to the chef” to dictate the customers’ sushi experience.
