Four-story building with 72 mixed-income apartments planned at South Hadley plaza

The owners of a Newton Street shopping plaza plan to build a four-story building with 72 mixed-income apartments on a 3-acre portion of the site where a supermarket once stood. Three partners — Rocco Falcone of Rocky’s Hardware, Andy Yee of BEAN Restaurant Group and Peter Picknelly of Peter Pan Bus Lines bought the Woodlawn Shopping Plaza at 501 Newton St. in 2016 for $2.4 million. Big Y closed its store at the plaza in 2013.
