‘Forever missed’: Business and historic preservation activists mourn death of Donald Courtemanche, former leader of Springfield BID and Amherst chamber

Rick Sullivan, president and CEO of the Economic Development Council of Western Mass., joined in praising Courtemanche. “Obviously, he was very committed to local economic development,” Sullivan said. “It was a real passion he had. He really saw the importance of creating jobs and having vibrant local economy, particularly recognizing the importance of small business.” Several people who knew Courtemanche, 41, confirmed his death Monday. A resident of Springfield, he’d worked as a Realtor with Sears Real Estate since 2015, and was on the Board of Directors of the Springfield Preservation Trust.
