Equity in the 413: Western Massachusetts Racial Equity Summit

Invitation to Equity in the 413: Western Massachusetts Racial Equity Summit, a day-long convening that the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts has been developing with the Western Mass Economic Development Council and several local partners. Equity in the 413 will support relationship-building across several industry areas on the topic of equity in the workplace. Attendees from across our region will come together to align our readiness and efforts to advance racial equity in the workplaces and organizations across western Massachusetts. Please see the embedded invite and links for full details.

We know that MGM Springfield has committed to hiring a diverse workforce, reflective of the community in which you are embedded. In recent coverage of MGM’s 5th anniversary, you have spoken eloquently about efforts to hire a diverse workforce, including in building out training opportunities, in partnership with others, such as Holyoke Community College. I’d invite you or a colleague to consider facilitating a session on this topic at the Summit. We already have some great sessions lined up but there is space for more. Further details on how to propose a session are below.

In addition to attending the event and helping us spread the word, you can also become a Community Partner and provide financial and/or volunteer support for the event.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you might have about this opportunity.

Instructions to Propose a session at the Summit:
We are looking for facilitators and speakers who can support the purpose and objectives in the following topic areas:

• Organizational impact
• Workplace culture
• External systems
• Examples of how inequity has impacted your org?
• Courageous leadership

Workshops will be 50 minutes in length and there are 4 sessions. You can offer your session just once or up to all 4 sessions. You can also submit applications for multiple sessions. Please reach out to Briana Wales-Thaxton at bwales@communityfoundation.org with any questions.
