Easthampton ‘playing hard’ for redevelopment of One Ferry Street
The derelict 1903 mill complex at One Ferry Street has long been vacant, but now Mayor Nicole LaChapelle hopes two geographically targeted initiatives will help draw investment. A “district improvement financing” area surrounding One Ferry would allow additional tax revenue generated by new growth to finance related public infrastructure. The DIF mechanism is described under Chapter 40Q of state law.
