Eastern States Exposition to host Winter Wonder Drive-Thru with light experience, special effects and 3D hologram show

The Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield is being transformed into the spirit of Christmas for a family-friendly show this holiday season. The Winter Wonder Drive-Thru offers “a unique lighting experience, special effects and a 3-D hologram show.”

The show is “where the spirit of Christmas comes alive,” the website states.

Tickets are $15 per vehicle and need to be purchased in advance.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, guests must remain in their vehicles.

“Winter Wonder is a safe, socially distant, family-friendly event. Guests will remain in their vehicles at all times and wear face masks or coverings when presenting their ticket,” the website states. “We have enhanced health and safety measures in place for our guests and show staff.”

The show runs Dec. 4 to Jan. 3.

The event will be held in the Better Living Center, the largest building at the fairgrounds and the site of numerous indoor vendors during the Big E. Eastern States Exposition announced in June that the annual 17-day fair would not be held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was the first time the Big E was canceled since World War II.

Drive-thru or socially distant light shows are very popular this year during the pandemic.

Bright Nights has continued its show. Six Flags, Stone Zoo and Gillette Stadium are also doing socially distance light shows.

Some people are even setting up their own holiday decorations and lights early this year to bring them extra joy.
