Dining out(side) in the age of coronavirus: Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno unveils rules for restaurants

The city put out rules Friday and started accepting applications from restaurants that want to start serving eat-in diners outdoors under Gov. Charlie Baker’s coronavirus pandemic reopening plan. The city will allow — on a case-by-case basis and with the approval of the Department of Public Works — restaurants to close portions of city streets and sidewalks to use them as dining areas, said William Baker, a city spokesman.
