Daily Hampshire Gazette, Greenfield Recorder outsource printing to Worcester County; union calls layoffs ‘devastating’
The owners of the Daily Hampshire Gazette and Greenfield Recorder will cease in-house printing of those newspapers, resulting in what a union official described as massive and devastating layoffs. Publisher Michael Moses announced on Tuesday that the newspapers will now be printed by an Auburn-based commercial printer. The loss of printing and distribution work to Worcester County means that nine full-time and 20 part-time employees will lose their jobs.
