Chicopee grants tax agreement to company building assisted living complex on Facemate land

The City Council granted a 10-year tax incentive plan to a company that purchased a former factory property from the city and plans to build an assisted living complex on the land. The agreement is with DS Development, which is constructing the RiverMills Assisted Living facility on a parcel of property that the city cleaned up after acquiring the long closed Facemate factory property off West Main Street. The company, based in Weston, purchased the nearly four-acre parcel of land next to the RiverMills Senior Center for $750,000. It received final permits from the city in November 2017 and is expected to begin construction in July.
