Chicopee Cabotville project back on: Developer to renovate mill, create 600 apartments
The project that would turn the largely-vacant Cabotville Mill into as many as 600 apartments is back on 15 months after the project was withdrawn from consideration. Mayor Richard J. Kos announced Thursday that Aaron Popowitz, founder and managing principal of SilverBrick LLC and 4 Perkins LLC, has submitted new plans to renovate the downtown mill complex. Popowitz had originally planned to rehabilitate the mill, which is partly occupied by a number of small businesses, in 2016. He withdrew the plans in February 2017 citing disagreements in trying to purchase the property from Joshua Guttman, who has owned the property under the corporation 200 Tillary LLC. for more than a decade.
