After restoration, Springfield’s Elm Street Block will be gem to region

As the State Department of Housing and Community Development has recently approved the transfer of Springfield’s long-vacant, historic Elm Street Block at Court Square from the Springfield Redevelopment Authority to private developers, the iconic Springfield landmark will soon be revitalized to its former glory. The ornate Romanesque building includes a six-story building and an adjacent two-room school building. The $51 million restoration project includes 74 apartments and several storefronts on the first floor.
