$1 million education grant to help student parents at UMass with child care costs

Low-income student parents will get added financial help after the federal Department of Education awarded a $1 million grant to the University of Massachusetts to subsidize child care costs.   The four-year funding is provided through the education department’s Child Care Access Means Parents in School program, which supports the participation of low-income parents in post-secondary education, according to a press release.  The funding will significantly increase the amount of financial aid, coaching and parenting resources offered by the university’s Office of Student Parent Programs to qualified low-income undergraduate and graduate students, according to the release.
