Westfield manufacturer shares in grant for better radar domes on ships, planes, submarines

Peerless Precision of Westfield, the University of Massachusetts Lowell and companies in Billerica and Wilmington are collaborating on a better way to build domes protecting radar equipment on aircraft, ships, submarines and the like. Today’s technology allows for printable, flexible electronics on small surfaces, according to a news release from the state issued this week. But Peerless, SI2 in Billerica, Xenon of Wilmington and UMass Lowell are working on technology that would allow builders to print the electronics on larger and more complex surfaces and thus build larger protective domes, called radomes.
