Westfield Business Improvement District

The Westfield Business Improvement District (WBID) was established in 2006 as both an organization and area of properties within downtown Westfield that are united to create a clean, attractive, safe, well programmed and aggressively promoted location in which to live, shop, visit and conduct business.

The property owners of the 190 parcels within the district's boundaries, who fund the corporation, are provided with programs and services designed to attract additional business downtown and to provide an environment where these establishments can thrive.

These include:

  • Maintenance and Landscaping- Beautification of the District with hanging baskets and flower plantings as well as gum and graffiti removal, sidewalk and parking lot cleaning, holiday lighting and window displays
  • Visibility Improvements- Signage and lighting programs, city streetscape enhancement programs and public safety
  • EventsA partnership with Westfield on Weekends, Inc. (WOW) will produce exciting community events to increase district visitors and enhance civic pride while promoting the city's rich history
  • Marketing- Print advertising, an informative website, and a marketing campaign for both consumer and business target markets

The Westfield Business Improvement District was founded as an affiliated partner of the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts and is a private nonprofit 501 (c) (6) organization governed by a 15-member Board of Directors. It is the third business improvement district in the state.
