The Springfield Business Development Corporation (SBDC) is a private, non-profit development corporation working to advance urban revitalization projects that foster economic growth and quality of life in the City of Springfield. This corporation initiates, promotes and implements responsible development projects that encourage capital investment, business growth and opportunity, as well as a strong, Current projects include: State Street Corridor Redevelopment- A major 3.2 mile, $13 million public infrastructure project aimed to transform State Street into an "urban boulevard." To augment this public investment, SBDC is working with the State Street Alliance, an affiliation of business and community representatives Union Station Intermodal Transportation Center- Coordinating activities on behalf of the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority and the Springfield Redevelopment Authority to create a new vision for the Union Station structure that will include an array of public transit and transit-related uses integrated in a transportation hub. The overall goal of this renewed effort is to create a sustainable transit-oriented redevelopment project that can maximize access to public transportation, boost transit ridership, stimulate economic revitalization and leverage capital investments. First established in 1960, the Springfield Business Development Corporation became an affiliate of the Economic Development Council in 1996 and is governed by a 16-member board of directors.
