Regional Employment Board of Hampden County (REB)- This business-led, non-profit corporation was established by state and federal legislation and supported by local business, education, and labor leaders as the primary policy-making authority in developing workforce skills by developing reemployment strategies for laid off workers, training programs for new workers and establishing internships. Information and support for employers to help increase and develop their own workforces is also available. The Hartford-Springfield Economic Partnership- A collaborative group of public and private organizations dedicated to cooperatively increasing efforts to market and advance the economic progress of the I-91 north/south interstate region shared by the two states that is known as the Knowledge Corridor. Pioneer Valley Planning Commision- The public-sector regional planning body for the Pioneer Valley region and its 43 cities and towns. The PVPC is the primary agency responsible for increasing communication, cooperation, and coordination among all levels of government as well as the private business and civic sectors in order to benefit the Pioneer Valley region and to improve its residents' quality of life. Bradley International Airport- The region's major airport, located 20 minutes from Springfield, offers more than 300 daily commercial flights to 35 North American cities through 15 carriers. Their international services include non-stop daily flights to Canada, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Mexico and one of Europe's largest hubs, Schiphol Airport of Amsterdam, where passengers can directly connect to more than 260 destinations in 91 countries. Northampton Chamber of Commerce- This organization creates, maintains and promotes a vital, thriving climate for business while supporting the civic, educational and economic well-being of greater Northampton. The Chamber supports their members by marketing Northampton to attract visitors, connecting members with customers and partners, facilitating professional growth and training, promoting economic development, interfacing with local and state government, helping to improve city schools and cultivating regional leadership. Chicopee Chamber of Commerce- An advocate of the business community for 45 years, the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce has a mission to unite and guide those engaged in business and industry for the economic and civic well-being of the citizens of the Chicopee area. Holyoke Chamber of Commerce- Founded in 1890 to represent a diverse business community located in and around the nation's first planned industrial city, this organization concentrates on building a prosperous community and a stronger economy by overseeing and implementing governmental affairs activities, marketing opportunities for businesses of all sizes, a leadership development program, business recognition events, networking functions for members, educational support and workforce development programs. |
