Knowledge Corridor®

The Knowledge Corridor® is the region surrounding Springfield Massachusetts and Hartford Connecticut. Located just 25 miles apart, these cities share the Connecticut River, Interstate 91 and Bradley International Airport.

More than infrastructure, this region is united with one of the best-educated work forces in the nation and the second largest population in New England.

The name "Knowledge Corridor®" reflects the area's dense concentration of colleges and universities (29) and more than 100,000 students. This list of institutions includes both state universities and the world-famous five-college consortium of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges.

The Hartford-Springfield Economic Partnership leads the Knowledge Corridor® marketing efforts. Formed in 2000, it is a formal cooperation of area political, business and government leaders with the mission of developing the Knowledge Corridor® region's economy. The EDC plays a major role within this organization.
